Ryanair passengers can 'boost price of flights' by making 1 booking mistake
April 30, 2026

Ryanair is a popular airline, and it's often considered budget-friendly. However, passengers have been told they can easily "boost the price of flights" by making a common booking mistake
It's getting to that time of year when people are starting to book flights abroad but, if you travel with Ryanair, there are some things you need to be clued up on before you jet off. Passengers have been told they can easily boost the price of their flights if they make a simple mistake, and it's easy to do.
Travel is a hot topic at the moment, with many keen to book a holiday during the summer months; however, if you fly with Ryanair, there's something important you need to know. The travel tip is worth taking on board as it could make a big difference to your budget.
It's not the only advice passengers have been told recently either. A few months ago, they were also advised to stop packing a certain item in their hand luggage to avoid problems at the airport.
Tourist Josie Johnson alerted people to the issue on TikTok as she opened up about her recent experience. There are some things you need to know before booking a holiday.
Josie said: "I've just booked flights but I've booked the wrong dates. I actually can't believe that this has happened.
"We are going to a wedding at the end of the month, and the flights that I had booked are a day early to go there and a day too early to come back.
"The worst thing about it all - the flights on the Tuesday are cheaper than the Monday, because Monday is a bank holiday, and if you change the flights with Ryanair as well, you have to pay £45.00 per person per flight, even if the flights are cheaper and you can't get reimbursed.
"When we're out there, we are really going to want to enjoy the last evening with everybody at this wedding, and I'm gutted to say the least that I managed to make such a rookie mistake.
"I did actually call Ryanair, and I told them the situation, and they said 'no sorry, you're outside of the 24-hour window' to actually change and amend anything free of charge.
"I didn't actually know that was a thing, especially since the flights for the day I need to go are cheaper than the flights that I actually paid for. Double-check everything, because I've literally just made the worst mistake ever."
She hopes to laugh about it in a few months, but she admitted she's "gutted" at the moment. It shows it's always worth checking the rules before you book.
What you need to know
Ryanair has been asked for further information on the matter, but the details are actually outlined on the website. Advice reads: "Flight changes incur a per-person, per-flight fee and any fare difference, with no refund if the new fare is cheaper.
"A 24-hour grace period allows free correction of minor booking errors or route reversal, but fare differences still apply. Changes are subject to payment of a change fee, charged per person per flight.
"You must also pay any difference between the original fare and any fees for optional services (such as check-in bags) paid at the time of the booking, and the fare/fees available when you make the change. Please note that, if the new fare/fee is cheaper than the original fare/fee, we will not refund the difference.
"We allow a grace period of 24 hours from the time of your original booking to correct any minor errors you may have made (dates/times) free of charge. We also allow you to reverse the route if you’ve booked your flights incorrectly (e.g. you may change DUB to STN to STN to DUB). During this time no flight change fee will be charged, however, you will need to pay any fare difference.
"If you make changes online the fee will be €/£45 per passenger, per one way flight. If you contact our reservation centre to make a change or ask for the change at our ticket desk at the airport, the fee will be €/£60 per passenger, per one way flight."
