The initial fanfare of the June 2025 launch, which included a monthly service plan priced at $47.45 in a nod to President Donald Trump's 45th and 47th terms, has given way to a series of delays, shifting narratives, and a redesigned product that still has no firm release date.
The Trump sons' venture into the competitive mobile industry was met with immediate skepticism, particularly regarding the "Made in America" claim, a cornerstone of the initial marketing. Experts pointed to the heavy reliance of the electronics industry on Asian manufacturing and supply chains, making a domestically produced smartphone at that price point a significant challenge. In letters to federal agencies, they questioned whether President Trump's financial interest in the company could lead to improper influence over regulators that oversee the telecommunications industry.
