Future gets hit with a paternity suit in Miami. What does the rapper’s ex want?

NEW YORK, NEW YORK - MAY 05: Future attends the 2025 Met Gala Celebrating "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style" at Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 05, 2025 in New York City.
The rapper Future, known for his chart-topping music, is now facing a legal challenge in a Miami-Dade County family court over the paternity of a nine-year-old boy. An Arizona woman named Layla Sanad filed a lawsuit against the artist, whose given name is Nayvadius Wilburn, claiming he is the father of her son. In her court filing, Sanad is seeking to formally establish paternity and to secure retroactive child support for the child, who is identified in court documents by the initials "K.W." This legal action aims to make their existing arrangement official under the law.
This is not the first time the 42-year-old hip-hop artist has been involved in such a dispute. The current situation is complicated by a parallel legal effort initiated by Future. He has reportedly filed his own case in Arizona, arguing that it is a more appropriate venue since Sanad and the child reside there. In those Arizona court proceedings, the rapper has acknowledged that he is the father of a boy named Kash Wilburn and states that he has been voluntarily paying Sanad $3,500 per month for the child's care. Sanad’s lawsuit in Florida seeks to have these child support payments legally mandated and to collect two years of retroactive support.
Future, who purchased a multi-million dollar mansion on Allison Island in Miami Beach in 2022, is a part-time resident of the area. The filing in Miami brings the matter into a jurisdiction where he maintains a significant presence. A hearing on the matter in the Miami-Dade court is scheduled for April 29. The outcome of this hearing will likely determine whether the case proceeds in Florida or is moved to Arizona, a decision that will shape the next steps in this ongoing legal matter. Neither Future's attorney, David Hazouri, nor Sanad's lawyer, Max Leinoff, have immediately responded to requests for comment.
This latest suit adds to the rapper's well-documented history of paternity claims and legal battles over child support. Before this most recent filing, Future had publicly confirmed fathering seven children with seven different women, including a son with the singer Ciara. One of the more publicized cases involved Eliza Seraphin, also known as Eliza Reign, which began in 2018 and included a defamation lawsuit filed by Future against her, which he later dropped. After a DNA test confirmed he was the father, a judge eventually ordered him to pay child support.
Another woman, Cindy Parker, also filed a paternity suit against Future, which she later dismissed in 2020, leading to speculation that a settlement had been reached outside of court. These previous cases have created a pattern of public legal disputes concerning his children. The current lawsuit brought by Layla Sanad suggests that while financial support may have been provided informally, she is now seeking the legal security and formal recognition that a court-ordered paternity and child support arrangement would provide for her son.
