A Tennessee man is in custody following a bizarre and frightening attack on a dancer at a Key West gentlemen's club, an incident partially captured on security and cell phone video. The suspect, identified as 44-year-old Jeffrey Carroll of Columbia, Tennessee, was arrested Tuesday night on multiple felony charges after allegedly assaulting a woman with a pair of scissors while wearing a hockey-style mask. The unsettling event unfolded at the VIP Gentlemen's Club on Duval Street.
According to police reports, Carroll had first visited the club at approximately 6:20 p.m. on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, for a dance session. After initially causing some unspecified trouble with the employees and requesting a different dancer, he had a session with the woman who would later become his victim before leaving around 6:45 p.m. He returned to the establishment shortly after 10 p.m., this time shirtless and wearing an orange baseball cap and a white hockey mask, which immediately alarmed staff. A female employee who was on the front porch was blocked by Carroll from re-entering the club and began filming him with her cell phone for her safety.
The situation escalated when the victim opened the door to let her coworker inside. At that moment, security footage shows Carroll grabbing the victim by her hair, pushing her inside, and pulling a pair of scissors from his pocket. He then used the scissors to cut off a lock of her hair before fleeing the scene on foot. The victim later told responding officers that Carroll had threatened her, stating, "I'm gonna take your life." Though physically unharmed aside from her hair being cut, the woman was described by police as being "obviously shaken up and emotional."
Key West police officers arrived within five minutes and quickly located Carroll a block away at the intersection of Louisa and Simonton streets. He was still shirtless, and officers found a pair of scissors near him, though the mask was not recovered. Upon his arrest, police discovered an amphetamine pill in his pocket, leading to a drug possession charge. An arrest report indicated that he appeared to be under the influence of both drugs and alcohol at the time.
Carroll was booked into the Monroe County jail on charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault with intent to commit a felony, and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription. His bond for the aggravated assault charge was set at $45,000, and he is scheduled to make his first court appearance for an arraignment on April 23. The motive for the strange and targeted attack remains under investigation as the case prepares to move through the legal system.
